Stand Up And Stand Proud.org Completes Successful Fundraiser

Helping homeless veterans by providing substantial donations to Arizona StandDown and MANA House/MSVA.

On January 14, Stand Up And Stand Proud.org., in cooperation with the Mesa Marketplace Swap Meet, the Mesa Police Department, the Apache Junction Police Department, The Mining Camp Restaurant and Trading Post, and Superstition Harley-Davidson in Apache Junction will have completed their Third Annual Stand Up And Stand Proud.org Ride for Homeless Veterans with 517 registered riders, a beautiful Sonoran Desert ride to Tortilla Flats, and a Salute to American Veterans.

Adam Bevill and the 3 AM band provided the music, and our thanks to our host, Superstition Harley-Davidson who made the event, an event to remember. With breakfast provided by the Mesa Marketplace Swap Meet, lunch provided by The Mining Camp Restaurant and Trading Post and an eventful reminder of the importance of the American veteran we are ready for next year's ride, January 12, 2013. See (www.standupandstandproud.org)

With almost 500 breakfasts served, almost 600 lunches served, riders welcomed the event and gave of their hearts and their pocketbooks to help homeless veterans, we thank you for doing so and God Bless You. We also thank each and every supporter.

Among those either attending or supporting were American Legion Riders, Black Sheep MM, Christian Motorcycle Association, Combat Vets Int'l, HOG, Marines MC, PGR, STAR, US Military Vets MC, VFW Riders, VNV/LVMC, Warrior Brotherhood, The Blue Angels, and many others that came out. Thank You for standing up and standing proud for Homeless Veterans.

On January 26 through January 29, Stand Up And Stand Proud stood for homeless veterans with our Operation Helping Hands, 80 Hours of Homelessness sponsored by Berge Ford, Mesa Marketplace Swap Meet, The Mining Camp Restaurant and Trading Post, and Superstition Harley-Davidson in Apache Junction.

Over four truckloads of clothing, food, and other donations were received and distributed within 48 hours of their receipt to the homeless and to the shelters for their outreach operations. A special acknowledgment of Berge Ford for hosting this event and opening their doors to help homeless veterans. Thank you!

Thousands of pairs of blue jeans were collected and veterans today are wearing those blue jeans as a result of Arizona StandDown. A special thank you goes out to John and Susie for their efforts in assisting Operation Helping Hand and spearheading the clothes delivery to veterans at Arizona Stand Down.

In addition to the communities donations and thousands of visitors over the 80 hours, round the clock, just under $4000 was collected and combined with registration and donation receipts from the January 14 motorcycle ride, $16,000 or 100.45 % of all funds collected, are now in the hands of Arizona Stand Down and MANA House to assist those veterans needing a helping hand.

Stand Up And Stand Proud.org's commitment was to assure the community that 100% of the monies donated would be given to veteran causes. We are proud to say, we honored our commitment and the riders, the community and the donors made it possible.

Lastly, there are many individuals that can be singled out but two of the most important individuals that without their assistance, these events could not have taken place. Thank you Mr. Don Borland and Mr. Roy McClymonds and your families for sharing your hearts and souls to raise up a veteran in need. Thank you brothers for your support, encouragement and commitment to this very special cause.

And on behalf of myself and my wife Valerie, we would like to thank all residents in the Valley of the Sun, all riders who participated and everyone involved. Without each of your contributions this event would have been less than it was. God bless each of you for all of your assistance, your participation, and your commitments to this worthy cause and we will see you again next year, January 12, 2013 with an even bigger and better entertainment venue, veterans salute, and Valley ride.

ALWAYS remember those veterans who need a hand up. Reach out when you can.

MIGHTY FINE

As the only person I know who was born in Brooklyn and never moved away, I have a special interest in reasons that people would leave such a heaven-sent destination. Joe Fine (Chazz Palminteri), the principal performer in Debbie Goodstein's semi-autobiographical film "Mighty Fine," checked out of N ...

A BAG OF HAMMERS

This well-meaning but innocuous comedy-drama featuring Brian Crano's TV-style direction and which is co-written by him and one of the principal performers is a story about redemption and emotional growth. However the pace is sluggish, the situations absurd, and the actors go about their roles mecha ...

THE PERFECT FAMILY - SINCERELY SYMPATHETIC

Whenever devout Eileen Cleary (Kathleen Turner) must face a personal problem, she dutifully turns to the teachings of her Church. "I don't have to think - I'm Catholic," she explains. But when she learns that she's a finalist for the parish's "Roman Catholic Woman of the Year" in Chester, the small ...

REVIEW: BERNIE

If you've ever joined in a bull session during your second year of college, you'll recall that one of your most sophomoric debates was centered on the topic, "Everyone, nobody high nice, has a breaking point," or, in other words, "Civilization is not much more the skin deep, hanging by a thread" (to ...
